What is Health Coaching?
As a Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach, I ask powerful questions to explore client's values and strengths and will support you as an ally without judgment or criticism. I offer support and accountability in helping my clients develop actionable health goals and a process for tracking and measuring them. As a Heath Coach and agent of behavior change, I will help you close the gap between intention and behavior. We all have things we want to do, but why are we not always successful? And if we experience success, why does it not last?
In practice, I facilitate the process of change by:
-
Meeting my Clients where they are at in their journey;
-
Helping you understand why it's not all about willpower and the science behind habits;
-
Identifying your "why" and understanding your motivation for change;
-
Empowering clients to see themselves as experts in their own health and circumstances;
-
Using broad knowledge of health and wellness principles, I help clients navigate through health challenges.
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine is a systems biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Functional medicine considers interactions that exist among genetic, environmental and lifestyle based factors that can influence one’s long term health and contributions to chronic disease. A focus is to identify underlying causes of chronic disease and remediate issues before disease is overly present. It is the focus of health coaching to support clients on modifiable lifestyle factors: sleep and relaxation, exercise and movement; nutrition, stress, and relationships. These are what are considered the five pillars.
Are you a nutritionist?
As a health coach, I have extensive knowledge of nutrition, but I am not a nutritionist of registered dietitian.
What certification do you have?
I am certified through the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy. This is an intensive and immersive training program focused on such elements as core coaching techniques, mind-body medicine, and positive psychology. I am currently training to pursue board certification through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching which is an indicator of the highest level of training available in the health coaching field.
